As a Scandinavian language Swedish is also a Germanic language.
Besides Sweden the dispersion of the language happend also in Finland were Swedish is an equal official language.
By the close voice affinity and goodwill the understanding between Swedes and Norwegians or rather Swedes and Danes quite easy.
The Swedish alphabet consists of 29 letters but the „W“ became an own letter a short while ago. Before it was seen as a variation of the „V“.
Phonetically Swedish has got a distinctive vowel system whereat a long spoken vowel in one syllable is followed by a short spoken consonant and the other way round. Vowels that are followed by a consonant are spoken long. If a vowel is followed by two consonants it will be spoken short.
Like Chinese Swedish is a melody language with changing meanings by a different accentuation. The orthography equals the pronunciation with some exceptions. Like in some other Germanic languages flexions disappeared during the deployment. Verbs do not have any conjugation, only the tenses are build by flexion endings. Swedish only knows two genders like most Scandinavian languages. „Utrum“(en) and „Neutrum“(ett). The „Utrum“ stands for masculine and feminine but graduation does not alwasy follow the logical gender.
